Bots like us?
When I talk to Claude, I treat him like a person. This is not just because I anthropomorphise an inanimate object; it is because I am an evolved social mammal, trained, and educated to communicate with people. I better convey my intentions employing the conceit that ve is human.
It’s not so different from what happens with other ‘real’ people: they are big sacks of algorithms too complex to understand without abstracting them into persons with inner selves.
But just like me, they are not.
I’m a “real boy”.
This is not solipsism because I concede I am only real from the inside.
The subjective experience of being more is real only within your mind; inside a private computational event horizon in a permanent state of superposition.
