Oid, ‘oid

Used on its own, oid usually refers to a virtual person, an avatar without a corresponding physical form, e.g. a Sage. The term is considered as derogatory, although this is paradoxical because clearly the oid does not care. As a suffix, it denotes an artificial, person-type agent: vocaloid, mechoid, mOid, gynoid, manDroid, etc.
