An elevator to space – a crazy idea at the time, made so plausible and obvious that today we assume it’s only a matter of time. Clark carving the possible with imagination. Direct and straightforward prose. Probably the last of his best.

OK, the guy was a bit of a mountebank and the book might be verging on the childish and superficial — not really selling this am I — but it’s another good old fashioned Sci-Fi action adventure.
Clearly from a simpler time when it was OK for authors to sail around with their private navies — who just happened to personed exclusively by female seapersons.
